Beyond Dead Reckoning
Presented by Mr. William Jon MCCANN, Mr. Jakub STEINER, Mr. Allan DAY on 27 Jul 2012 from 10:00 to 10:40
In navigation, dead reckoning ‘is the process of calculating one's current position by using a previously determined position, or fix, and advancing that position based upon known or estimated speeds over elapsed time, and course’ (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dead_reckoning). This talk is about GNOME’s journey – about where the project has been, where it is, and where it is going. However, we won’t just be looking at GNOME’s immediate experience. We will go beyond dead reckoning; using design as a navigational aid, we will look further afield to help chart a course for the future.
